Malayan Savings Bank
A trust-first redesign for a BSP-regulated savings bank serving teachers, OFWs, and SMEs.
Challenge
Malayan Savings Bank is a BancNet member with a PDIC-insured deposit base and a loan book tuned to the Filipino middle — teachers, transport operators, jewelry-backed liquidity, OFW remittance corridors. The previous site looked like a 2010 banking template, which understated the bank's regulatory standing and made customer self-service harder than it should have been. Trust was earned in branch and lost on the homepage.
Approach
We redesigned around the customer's first questions, not the bank's org chart: which loan fits me, what's the rate today, where is the nearest ATM, is my deposit insured. We rewrote product pages alongside the compliance team to be both accurate and human, published live forex rates and product disclosures, and ran a full accessibility audit to AA. Every flow ends in a clear, low-friction call: visit a branch, call the hotline, or apply online.
Outcome
The bank now ships a site that matches the standing it has on paper. Product pages communicate eligibility, requirements, and rates in plain language. Compliance, marketing, and branch operations finally share the same source of truth — and customers stop calling the hotline to ask things the site can answer.
“Our regulators, our depositors, and our branch managers can all read the site the same way now. That's harder than it sounds.”
